2013 is set to be a good year for UK manufacturers and subcontractors according to new research taken amongst attendees at the 2012 Subcon Show, organised by Centaur Exhibitions.
51% of Subcon visitors expect prospects for their business to improve over the next 12 months, 41% expect current business levels to be maintained and just 8% expect them to decline. 86% plan to increase or maintain the proportion of work they placed with British suppliers. 86% also expect to maintain or increase the total amount of work they place with all subcontractors.
Subcon 2013 takes place at the NEC, Birmingham from 4 to 6 June and is the UK’s only dedicated national exhibition for contract and subcontract manufacturing. It covers every aspect of outsourced manufacturing services, from design and prototyping, machining, moulding, 3D printing, fabrication, composites and electronics assembly to finishing and testing.

Leading industry names confirmed for new show
The new Advanced Manufacturing Show has got off to a flying
start, with some of the industry’s leading names already confirmed.
The event, which provides a showcase for the latest
developments in machine tools, tooling, production software and metrology, runs
at the NEC from 4 to 6 June 2013.
Some of the key exhibitors lined up so far include machine
tool manufacturers Yamazaki Mazak and XYZ, software experts Delcam and Seiki
Systems, tooling manufacturers Sumitomo Electric Hardmetal, ITC and WNT, and an
impressive roster of metrology companies, including Renishaw, Hexagon
Metrology, Faro and Nikon.

Subcon 2013 supports BTMA
The Subcon exhibition, which takes place at the NEC
Birmingham from 4 to 6 June 2013, is extending its support for UK manufacturers
by sponsoring the participation of the British Turned Parts Association (BTMA) and
its members.
This support includes preferential rates on stands for
member companies, a branded BTMA village within the exhibition, and a stand for
the BTMA to promote its activities and the capabilities of the UK turned parts sector.
BTMA President Martin Lane said: “The British Turned Parts
Manufacturers Association is pleased to announce that on the back of a very
successful attendance at Subcon 2012 it will be taking a stand at Subcon 2013,

Subcon, The Engineer and
MWP advanced manufacturing magazine
are joining together to create a unique set of events at the NEC, Birmingham,
from 4 to 6 June 2013.
Subcon, the UK’s only dedicated national exhibition for
contract and subcontract manufacturing, will be joined by a new event, The
Advanced Manufacturing Show, which will be supported by MWP, and a two-day summit organised by The Engineer.
