One of the new accounts is specifically related to WLR’s ± 1 micron capable machine, the KERN Pyramid Nano 5 Axis, with 75 Tools, 42,000 rpm spindle, which was installed prior to Subcon and is now very busy with ultra-precision work.
Since last years’s show WLR has continued to make further investments in its capacity – including a Matsuura H.Plus-300 4-axis horizontal machining centre with 15 pallets, 240-tool magazine and a 15,000 rpm spindle. Other investments include a HAAS VF0-ESS vertical machining centre with a 12,000 rpm spindle, a Star SR-32J sliding head 7-axis lathe and a Kemet 36” diamond lapper.
The total investment for WLR last year exceeded £1m as part of its long-term development strategy, which also included the recruitment of additional technical staff.
The company has extended its involvement with the oil & gas and electrical machine markets, as well as developing its work for medical, laboratory and instrumentation customers.
