igus Exhibits Reliable and Maintenance-free Plastic Bearings at Subcon 2013

Leading polymer specialist, igus UK, its exhibiting is high performance bearings at Subcon 2013 for the first time, on stand G20, Hall 3. Visitors to the stand will be able to see live demonstrations of its industry-leading maintenance-free plain, spherical and linear bearings as well meet industry experts to discuss the latest innovations and learn about igus’ full service offering.

igus’ iglidur plastic bearings are reliable, maintenance-free and cost-effective.  Featuring high wear resistance and a low coefficient of friction they can replace more costly alternatives in a variety of applications.  The plastic bearings are also chemical and corrosion resistant and do not require any lubrication, therefore enabling engineers to improve the uptime of equipment, reduce maintenance or lubrications costs.

One of the main highlights at the igus stand is its proven range of drylin E actuators with polymer bearings and NEMA certified motors.  This linear drive is lubricant- and maintenance-free, compact and extremely light and quiet.  drylin E SAW-0630 linear axis is ideal for simple adjustments, feed movements and the handling of lightweight components. It is available with a trapezoidal or high-helix thread leadscrew and offers numerous pitches from 1.5 mm to 15 mm.

igus will also be showcasing its full service offering. With its speedigus range of manufacturing services, igus can offer designers solutions from concept or prototype, or from low volume to high volume parts.  The speedigus offering includes speedimold, a rapid prototyping and injection moulding service, speedicut, a rapid machining service and the recently launched speedifit, making it as easy as possible for customers to realise cost-effective bespoke solutions.

Speedifit is a new manufacturing service which supplies bespoke complete bearing assemblies, enabling customers to save time and money.  The housing is manufactured to custom requirements, fitted with an igus bearing, and supplied as one whole unit, ready to install, delivered within days.

Over the years, igus has collected real-world test data from thousands of designs and used it to develop an extensive database so designers and engineers can accurately calculate the life of a bearing. Available online, the Expert System allows an engineer to enter the maximum loads, speeds, temperatures, and shaft and housing materials of their design. The system then references this information to the test data to recommend the most appropriate plastic bearing, with expected lifetime.

Experts from igus UK will be on hand to provide advice and guidance on selecting bearings for individual applications. To arrange an appointment, please call Leanne Golding on +44 (0)1604 677240 or email at: lgolding@igus.co.uk
