Exhibiting at Subcon for the first time, Silchrome Plating will be showing off its new semi-automatic silver plating capabilities.
Offering a comprehensive range of metal finishing services from chrome, nickel and zinc to specialist silver and gold finishes, Silchrome is often called upon by oil and gas companies to apply silver plating to seal rings.
These can be quite large and were sometimes beyond the capacity of its existing plating lines. With demand increasing, Silchrome decided to install a new state-of-the-art silver line with the capacity to handle much larger components and meet all the requirements of the major oil and gas companies.
This line is the first at Silchrome to be installed with spray rinses rather than rinse tanks, this is much more efficient, reduces the chance of contamination and also cuts the volume of effluent generated.
With larger components not only is the tank size an issue but perhaps more importantly the extra weight of these components means that material handling is a critical issue.
As Production Manager Frank Dawson explains “Large components would sometimes fit in our existing tanks but we simply couldn’t lift them in and out!” The new line therefore has larger tanks and also has a semi-automatic gantry crane. “We can now handle large rings safely and more efficiently and we can fully utilise the extra capacity we have installed” Frank explains.

Great post, Guess this will defenitely hit the industry since this one will the increasing demand in the industry. usage of tank increases using gantry crane will be appreciable.
